Bill this is "The Daddy Train" which ran from Portland to Seaside from the late 1800's until 1938 when Hwy 26 was an option. The train took 5 hours from Portland to Astoria, and the on to Seaside where the station shown here was south of Broadway and Hwy. 101. The name "Daddy Train" was used because families that could afford it owned or rented houses in Seaside or Gearhart and during the hot summer months in Portland they relocated there with the fathers commuting between Portland and the coast on the weekends.
I can't see a "sign" on the station.
Just where was the station in the photo located??
Where in Portland?
Or is it possibly in Seaside?
