Portland herself is in ruins. Those of us who have been here long enough to remember our once beautiful city now mourn her loss. Too many developers with huge dollar signs in their eyes, out of staters who found out they could get more area for their money here, those we will never need, have destroyed our gorgeous home.
I'm 80 years old and I remember when I was a small child walking in downtown Portland with my mother when a photographer would sometimes take your picture. We lived in the Parkrose area and it was really a treat to go to downtown Portland. I can't believe what has happened. All the crime and homelessness and the trash. The only time I go downtown now is for a haircut. I don't feel that safe even during the day. It used to be such a beautiful city. So sad.

As long as Portland votes the same, just a different name...nothing will change. Expect it to get worse.
