Mike left KISN to become program director at KPAM when Wally Rossman owned the AM&FM. Late in life Mike restored old time radios in upstate Washington. He was one of the best in the country doing it. Michael O’Brien lit up a room & was a joy to listen to especially with his radio pranks called O’brienizations.
Oh wow, this one hurts. Portland's best morning man ever, with honorable mentions to Craig, Bob and Uncle Don. His sense of humor, timing and delivery was one of a kind. Rest in peace!

Mike was in the vanguard of a new style of radio morning entertainers. It was still a one-man show, before the advent of morning teams, but he was still different, doing bits with more of a focus on entertainment.
People talked about his Obrienizations. It was common to be asked, "Did you hear what O'Brien did this morning?" My favorite was the time he called an auto polish shop and tried to buy a car that was made in Poland.
