The Beatles loved this hotel so much they stayed nine days (longest of any city they visited)...along with water skiing, meeting Ali, clubbing with disguises at night they also performed from the hotel on Ed Sullivan in 64. In the heyday, JFK stayed many times, Sinatra loved it along with other major celebs and world leaders. It was the hotel of the future. Today a chain link fence surrounds the ocean front property with signs that say KEEP OUT. An electrical fire closed the hotel in 2017. Today leaders in Miami want to preserve it, others want it demolished. The preservationists did get a win by securing Al Capone's residence at 93 Palm Island as a historic property.
