The arch over the street is one of the last 3 arches from "The Great Light Way' that were on 3rd from SW Yamhill to NW Glisan. In August 1940 the city ordered the last three at NW Everett, SW Oak and SW Alder be removed within 60 days.

The arches were beautiful, although they wouldnt stand 5 minutes with the scum ruining Portland now.
