Johnny Gilbert began his show biz career as a band and nightclub singer, but since 1958 has largely made his living announcing and hosting TV shows.
One interesting piece of trivia: Gilbert hosted a TV talk show aired on WLWD-TV in Dayton, Ohio, and carried by a small network of TV stations owned by Avco Broadcasting. When Gilbert left that show to move to New York to host a game show, he was replaced by a guy named Phil Donohue.
