Sunset Science Park is a business park located behind Sunset High School (no relation). The original idea was to create a place where science businesses could amalgamate. This was years before anyone had coined the terms Silicon Forest or Silicon Valley.

It didn't work out and is now occupied by decidedly non-scientific Columbia Sportswear and other non-science enterprises. But there was one company there that was working on developing a self-driving car. The idea was that cars would be equipped with readers that would follow bar codes painted on the roads.

On Science Park Drive, the road through the "Science Park," there were test bar codes painted. I wonder occasionally whatever came of the idea?

GPS happened.

I always thought the radiating cable embedded in the freeway pavement was a neat idea.
The Navstar Global Positioning System made all these ideas pretty much obsolete and/or impractical financially.
