I remember those. I worked on the second floor of the Montgomery Ward Vaughn Street store at the cashiers desk, catalog sales, sending orders up to the floors by the same method. When they came back down to me empty they really slammed into the holding bin and it hurt my ears standing close to them. I started in the catalog sales department in 1961 and forced retirement when they closed the Vaughn Street Montgomery Ward store. Met my husband there and I'm still married to him after 46 wonderful years. I had a lot of good memories working at Wards and some not so good with difficult customers. 😉
I understand sending live mice to the office girls was always fun.
