As a native son of Stumptown I think our fair city has had enough of being "weird" and I would love to see it return to something like I remember it; when you could walk downtown and feel like part of a successful community and not a refugee in a war zone; when you could tell folks where you were from an not get expressions of pity; when you could see things you grew up with still there and cared for; when you could be proud of where you came from and not have to make excuses all the time. Being "weird" can be cute and clever, but it doesn't wear well. I grew up in a grown up city. It would be nice to live in one.
