The Big Dipper was, by far, the best attraction at Jantzen Beach. The Carousel, not so much. To be frank, I can't even remember any of the attractions that weren't that roller coaster.
During the summers of my Junior and Senior years of high school, I had the greatest time working at Jantzen Beach operating the Octopus, Ferris Wheel, Bumper Cars, the Miniature Train and the Carousel. One year they replaced the track on the Big Dipper and my good friend, Ron Black, and I had to ride it about 25-30 times in a row to see if there were any misaligned rails. Dizzying but thrilling....
watching pat pattee drivn the ole #91 57 chevy around the racetrack, riding the biggest rollercoaster i ever saw, swimming in the huge pools, with kisn blaring from the loudspeakers, throwing darts at the balloons, and all the other midway games. now all we have there is a less than half filled shopping center!

The FUN HOUSE was a terrific experience. The swimming pools were fabulous, and when a little older, the dance halls were superior.

It was a "funtastic" place to work.
