There used to be a deli called the Greek Village on E Burnside at 18th. It's called the Mad Greek now and I can't speak to the quality. They made a dandy pastrami sandwich when I worked at KXL at 14th and Ankeny. It was a quick trip to get lunch at the Greek.

I used to visit Rose's Restaurant quite often in the 70s and I loved their sandwiches (LS Supreme, Executive, New Yorker, and Pastrami). And for dessert, the Raspberry Torte was my favorite. I remember the $1.00 Texas Donuts available at the checkout counter, but I never had one because I was too full at checkout time to crave one. I miss many things from my past, but Rose's Restaurant is one thing that is high on the list. I bought a Rose's cookbook when they were available years ago, but I gave it to my ex-wife decades ago. I can't even find one online anymore. But, even if I did, the recipes wouldn't taste as good because I wouldn't be eating them sitting at the counter at Rose's Restaurant.
