I lived in Colorado when I was in the Army. Coloradans liked to refer to themselves as pioneers. I always told them they weren't pioneers, they were quitters who stopped at the first mountain they came to. The real pioneers were people like my great-great-grandparents who came all the way across the continent on the Oregon Trail.
The Ute Pass pictured here is in Colorado, and not part of the Oregon Trail which didn't pass through Colorado.
