When this building opened is was simply call the High School as can be seen on the building, but was later named Lincoln High School. A new building was built circa 1911, and is now Lincoln Hall on the PSU campus. After the high school vacated this building it became Girls Polytechnic until the end of spring term 1928, when they moved to a new location at NE 26th & Everett
The building pictured here was demolished in August - September 1928.
A photo of the clock tower being pulled down appeared in the newspaper 8/12/28.
I wonder if Portland even had a high school before this one was built in 1883. In those days having a high school diploma meant you were highly educated.
