Billy Beer was brewed from July 1977 until the fall of 1978, with millions of cans being produced by three separate breweries. Locally General Distributing in Vancouver WA. Received 30,000 cases by railcar in April 1978, and Columbia Distributing received 5,700 cases by railcar, with both shipments coming from Pearl Brewing in San Antonio TX. News stories indicated it would be priced like as premium beer like Budweiser.
The only ad I saw for Billy Beer was from Safeway at $1.99 + deposit for a 6 pack. This would be in the era when I consumed my share of beer, but Billy Beer never crossed my lips, because it was considered crap.

I don't have any souvenir Billy Beer cans but I do have a can of Tom Potter porter somewhere in my attic.
