I noticed on the left side of the picture the operator seems to be using a switchboard type wiring to do whatever she's doing. There isn't a keyboard in sight. Maybe this is from the time where you had to rewire the computer to perform a specific task, which I think was before programming was developed.

Zip codes were introduced in 1963, so this ad is probably before that. The lady's hemline suggests early to mid-1950's.
