Those were the days, not just in San Francisco, right here in River City. There were the big places where the latest hot recording artists appeared. PSU Ballroom, Masonic, Wooden Shoe, and of course the Crystal.
I saw many of the hottest progressive bands at the Crystal, with its ball-bearing dancefloor. But the best concert had to be the Fugs. It was totally unproduced and the band seemed to do whatever it felt like.
The most excellent thing, believe it or don't, was when one of the band's frontmen, probably Ed Sanders or Tuli Kupferberg, grabbed one of the girls who sang backup and started dry-humping with her on the stage (no worries, they were totally clothed). Obviously, it was absolutely unexpected, but that was what you expected from the Fugs.

Found it, "Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother & Holding Company Handbill 1966", YouTube vid of concert history, very interesting.
Beautiful, local Signe Toly Anderson (rip) was with Jefferson Airplane at this time.
